ÉTANCHÉITÉ

Les montres sont constituées de pièces mécaniques et électroniques qui craignent l’eau et l’humidité. L’étanchéité d’une montre est mesurée en atm. Voici un guide technique afin de comprendre certaines caractéristiques.

Les différents degrés d’étanchéité :

3 atm : Vous pouvez vous laver les mains avec votre montre. La montre peut être mouillée accidentellement, mais ne doit pas être immergée ni exposée à un jet sous pression.
5 atm : Vous pouvez prendre votre douche avec votre montre et vous baigner en piscine, mais pas de plongée profonde.
10 atm : Baignade, plongée en piscine et en apnée sont possibles.
20 atm : La plongée avec bouteilles est possible.

Mouvement Couronne à Quartz

Suivant les catégories de mouvement, la précision varie :

Mécanique manuel : 5 à 30 secondes par jour
Mécanique automatique : plus ou moins 2 à 4 minutes par mois
Quartz : 1 minute par an en plus ou en moins

Les différents types de verre

Le verre minéral (adapté surtout à la haute montagne ou à la ville): très bonne qualité optique, résistant à la rayure mais il est lourd et a une faible résistance aux chocs.

Le verre plexiglass (adapté à tous les sports): très résistant aux chocs, très léger et une bonne qualité optique.

Le verre saphir : le verre saphir est un cristal synthétique très pur, très dur et quasiment inrayable. Il équipe en général toutes les montres « haut de gamme ».
